Hard Floor
Laminate
Laminate flooring comprises a clear surface wear layer over printed wood grain design. The structure is generally a specially engineered high density fibreboard, with the better laminates featuring a fused backing protection on the underside. These floating floor systems come as planks and feature a locking system to join them. They can be DIY laid onto a smooth subfloor surface.
Their wood designs are extremely realistic and their main characteristic is their extremely hard surface and reasonable cost. They are particularly suitable for those who want a timber look in high traffic areas. Unlike timber flooring once the wear layer and printed surface have worn through they cannot be resurfaced to regenerate their original appearance.
