    Help & Information

    Frequently Asked Questions

Engineered timber flooring consists of a real wood top layer glued to a plywood or high-density fiberboard (HDF) base. This construction allows the flooring to have the natural beauty of real wood while also being more stable and resistant to moisture.

Prefinished timber flooring is a type of engineered timber flooring that has been finished with a protective layer of polyurethane or another coating before it’s installed. This means the flooring does not need to be sanded or finished after installation, making it a convenient and low-maintenance option.

Engineered timber flooring is more stable than solid timber flooring, making it less prone to warping and movement. It can also be installed over various subfloors, including concrete, and is more moisture-resistant than solid timber flooring. Additionally, engineered timber flooring is available in a range of colours and finishes, making it a versatile option for any home style.

Prefinished timber flooring may be slightly more expensive than unfinished flooring, as it has already been finished with a protective layer before installation. However, the cost of installation and finishing is often included in the price of prefinished flooring, making it a more convenient and cost-effective option in the long run.

To care for and maintain your engineered timber flooring, regularly sweep or vacuum to remove dust and dirt that could cause scratches. Use a damp (not wet) mop with a cleaner specifically designed for timber floors, avoiding harsh chemicals or excessive water. Place mats at entryways to minimize debris and use felt pads under furniture to prevent dents. Clean up spills promptly to prevent moisture damage and maintain a consistent indoor environment to minimize warping. With proper care, your engineered timber floor will stay beautiful and durable for years.

To estimate the area in square metres, multiply the length of the room by the width (in metres).

    Carpet is sold in widths of 3.66m or 4m. eg. 3m x 3m room = 3m x 3.66m of Carpet. Requiring 10.98 m2 not 9 m2.

Modular products are sold by the box quantity. Box sizes vary by product. We recommend approximately an additional 10% for wastage.
