      Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely! Laminate flooring’s durability makes it perfect for busy spaces.

Laminate flooring can produce some noise, especially in high-traffic areas, as its hard surface can amplify footfalls and other sounds. However, using quality underlayment beneath the laminate can significantly reduce noise by absorbing impact and providing a cushioning effect. Proper installation and adding area rugs can also help minimize sound.

Laminate flooring is not fully waterproof, but most tend to have a water-resistant surface.. While it can handle minor spills if cleaned up promptly, prolonged exposure to water can damage the flooring and cause warping. For areas prone to moisture, such as bathrooms or laundry rooms, it's best to consider waterproof flooring options like ceramic tiles.

Yes, it is generally fine to install laminate flooring in kitchens, as modern laminate is designed to be durable and moisture-resistant. However, since kitchens can be prone to spills and humidity, it’s essential to clean up any water quickly to prevent damage. Opt for laminate with a water-resistant surfaceif possible, and ensure the edges are well-sealed to help protect against moisture.

Laminate flooring and hybrid flooring differ mainly in their construction and durability. Laminate flooring is made from a fiberboard core with a printed image layer on top, giving it the look of wood or stone. It's durable and scratch-resistant but can be sensitive to moisture, making it better suited to areas with low to moderate moisture. Hybrid flooring, on the other hand, combines the benefits of laminate and vinyl, with a rigid core that handles temperature changes well and a protective layer that offers improved resistance to moisture. This makes hybrid flooring a more versatile option.

Thicker laminate flooring is not necessarily better; it depends on the specific needs of your space. Thicker laminate, such as 10-12 mm, can provide a more solid feel underfoot, better sound absorption, and improved resistance to warping. However, thinner options, around 7-8 mm, can be just as durable if properly installed, making them suitable for areas with less foot traffic or where budget is a concern. Ultimately, the best thickness depends on your preference for comfort, acoustics, and budget.

Yes, laminate flooring can be used in commercial settings, as it is durable, easy to maintain, and comes in various styles to match business interiors. However, it's essential to choose a laminate rated for commercial use, as it is designed to withstand higher foot traffic and offer added durability. Commercial-grade laminate often has a thicker wear layer, which protects it from scratches, stains, and wear, making it suitable for spaces like offices, retail stores, and restaurants.

Yes, laminate flooring is considered DIY-friendly, as it often features a simple click-lock installation system. However, it's important to note that some manufacturers' warranties may only remain valid if the flooring is installed by a professional. DIY installation could potentially lead to warranty or compliancy issues if not done correctly, which might impact the flooring’s longevity and performance. For peace of mind and to ensure compliance, we recommend contacting Master for a fully installed quote from a professional installer who can handle every detail for a flawless finish.

It is possible to install laminate flooring over clean, level, and dry existing hard flooring. However, always check with your local store or manufacturers guidelines, as some brands may void your warranty.

Yes, laminate flooring can be compatible with underfloor heating, but it’s essential to choose laminate specifically designed for this purpose. Ensure that the heating system does not exceed the recommended temperature as excessive heat can damage the laminate. Always follow both the laminate manufacturer’s and heating system’s guidelines for best results and longevity.

To estimate the area in square metres, multiply the length of the room by the width (in metres).

      Carpet is sold in widths of 3.66m or 4m. eg. 3m x 3m room = 3m x 3.66m of Carpet. Requiring 10.98 m2 not 9 m2.

Sheet vinyl is sold in widths of 3m or 4m.

Modular products are sold by the box quantity. Box sizes vary by product. We recommend approximately an additional 10% for wastage.

Additional charges apply for uplift and disposal of existing flooring, movement of furniture, trims, floor preparation and minimum installation charges etc.

Based on these considerations the total installed price presented on this site is an estimate only.
