Scanning websites or browsing in store is a great place to start when you’re looking for flooring, but when it’s time to buy, it’s important to start asking questions. There’s one question in particular you must ask before you make your final decision:

What’s Included in the Price?

Not all stores price their products in the same way, and without asking, there’s no way of knowing what is included in the price.

The prices you see advertised for the flooring may include everything, or you may get a surprise later, with a whole list of extras you weren’t expecting. Either way is okay, as long as you know you need to ask the question about what is included.

Some prices will be the “complete” price, including underlay and installation – but is that the type of underlay is included? Is it the basic offering? Would you prefer the premium option, and what sort of additional cost does that incur?

Even installation rates can vary with what is included. If you have stairs, will they cost extra? And will the installers remove and dispose of your old flooring, if that’s what you want?

Some retailers will start with all of these options built in, and you can reduce the price by removing options and doing some things yourself. At the other end of the spectrum, some retailers will give you the basic cost per metre of the carpet, and then add each extra on – leading to a price much higher than you were initially expecting.

Some retailers will add charges for even small items, such as staples, glue and seaming tape. They are often the ones who will entice you with low prices, only to sting you at the end with all their add-ons.

At Carpet One, the prices you see are for the product only and then we also show you the price including installation. We believe it’s the total installed price that really counts. We know how important it is to talk to you about your requirements so we can tailor an offering to suit your unique circumstances, and that way the price we give you will be for exactly what you want.
