The story of Carpet One Stafford begins long before the showroom opened. In 1993, Dennis Mitchell joined his father in the family carpet cleaning business, which had been operating since 1980. When his father was ready to retire, Dennis and his wife Lisa purchased the business in 1999 and continued its proud legacy. Seeking new opportunities, Dennis and Lisa saw a chance to expand from carpet cleaning to carpet replacement. After exploring several existing businesses, they decided to build their own from the ground up. In April 2006, they launched New Carpet, an independent carpet retail business. Just 12 months later, they joined the Carpet One cooperative and began trading as Carpet One Stafford. In 2008, they rebranded their original cleaning operation to Carpet One Cleaning, before selling that part of the business in 2018 to focus entirely on the flooring and window furnishings side. Today, the store still serves many of the same clients and agencies that Dennis cleaned carpets for more than two decades ago, a testament to the relationships built through trust, consistency, and service.
