From Edwardstown to Lonsdale
The EC story began in South Australia in 1963 as Edwardstown Carpets, named after the Adelaide suburb where the business was established. More than six decades later, it remains family owned and closely connected to Australian carpet manufacturing.
In 2023, Edwardstown Carpets became EC, retaining a connection to its heritage while marking a new chapter for the company. That same year, manufacturing, warehousing and offices came together at its purpose-built facility in Lonsdale.
Carpet made close to home
One of the things that sets EC apart is how much happens under one roof.
From the initial design and tufting through to backing and warehousing, its carpets are produced at the Lonsdale facility in South Australia. Keeping these stages together gives the company close involvement in how each collection is developed and made.
For customers looking to support locally made flooring, EC continues to be one of the remaining carpet manufacturers that is both Australian owned and Australian made.
Colour, texture and plenty of choice
EC has built a reputation around loop pile carpet, but its residential collection extends well beyond a single look.
There are textured and level loops for rooms where you want the floor to have more character, along with cut pile options for a smoother finish. Colours move from easy-to-use naturals, beiges and greys through to richer shades for interiors that call for something more distinctive.
This variety makes it possible to choose carpet as part of the overall interior rather than simply treating it as the background.
Wool or synthetic? It depends on the room
The EC range spans several fibres, giving homeowners different combinations of feel, appearance, durability and price.
Pure wool collections bring the warmth and natural character many people associate with traditional carpet, while solution dyed nylon is widely represented across the range for homes that need a durable everyday option. Polyester and polypropylene provide further choices in softness, colour and value.
Selected collections also use ECONYL® regenerated nylon, made using nylon waste that has been recovered and regenerated into new fibre.
