Slime – it’s all fun and games until it gets smushed into your carpet, or you come across some months old dried up slime embedded in the carpet fibres in an out of the way spot when you’re tidying up…ewww!Disaster? Not necessarily…thankfully slime is not the death sentence for your pristine carpet that it might appear to be if you use the right removal method.

How to Remove Slime from your Carpet

Believe it or not, it’s actually quite straightforward when it comes to removing slime, though you may have to repeat the cleaning process a number of times depending on how severe it is in order to completely remove it.

You’ll need..

  • White vinegar
  • Warm water
  • A soft-bristled brush
  • A clean, dry towel
  • A container or bucket

Removal

To a container or bucket, add 2/3 vinegar to 1/3 warm water (or just enough to dilute the vinegar)

Using the warm water & vinegar liquid, apply small amounts at a time to the slime stain or residue with a soft brush

Use the brush to gently loosen up the slime for the individual carpet fibres

As you go, blot with a clean towel to absorb the liquid and slime residue

Keep applying the mixture to the problem area until the slime residue has been completely removed

You may have to repeat the process a number of times before you’re able to completely remove the slime from your carpet, especially if it is very dry and crusted.

Once the cleaned spot on your carpet has dried off completely, vacuum over the area to restore the carpet pile position.

Important! Before cleaning or removing stains from your carpet, always remember to check your manufacturer’s warranties for any cleaning terms and conditions that might apply.
